How to properly clean and disinfect your bathroom: a step-by-step guide

  • by

The bathroom is one of the most important areas of the house to keep clean and disinfected, as it is a place prone to the accumulation of germs and bacteria. Proper cleaning and disinfection are essential to ensure a hygienic and healthy environment. Here is a step-by-step guide to properly clean and disinfect your bathroom:

Step 1: Gather the necessary materials Before you begin, make sure you have all the necessary cleaning materials and products on hand. This may include rubber gloves, sponges, soft-bristle brushes, paper towels, disinfectant products, bathroom cleaners, white vinegar, and baking soda.

Step 2: Ventilate the bathroom Open the windows or turn on the exhaust fan to ensure good air circulation while you clean. This will help eliminate odors and dry surfaces faster.

Step 3: Remove Objects and Clean Surfaces Remove all objects from the bathroom, such as rugs, shower curtains, and toiletries. Clean visible surfaces, such as countertops, sinks, and mirrors, using an all-purpose cleaner or a mild detergent and water solution. Be sure to pay attention to hard-to-reach areas and corners.

Step 4: Clean the toilet bowl Use a toilet bowl cleaner and a stiff bristle brush to clean both the inside and outside of the toilet bowl. Make sure you get into all the corners and under the edge. To remove stubborn stains, you can use a mixture of baking soda and white vinegar. Let the mixture sit for a few minutes before scrubbing and rinsing with water.

Step 5: Clean the bathtub and/or shower If you have a bathtub, spray a bathroom cleaner or a mixture of white vinegar and water on the surface and let it sit for a few minutes. Then, scrub with a sponge or soft brush and rinse thoroughly with water. For a shower, apply the cleaner or vinegar-water mixture to the walls, floors, and fixtures. Make sure to remove any soap residue and rinse with water.

Step 6: Clean the tiles and floors Clean the wall and floor tiles using an all-purpose cleaner or a white vinegar and water solution. Use a soft bristle brush to remove any embedded dirt or mildew. Be sure to dry the floors well after cleaning to avoid slipping.
